Using powerpoint as a way to give students a quiz is a great way to keep the students involved in learning. I find that students enjoy doing things on the computer as oppose to just writing down the answers. Click HERE for more information and step-by-step instrucitons on making a powerpoint quiz!

Title: Become a Math Wizzard! Subject: Mathematics Author: Kimber Peluso Grade Level: 1st & 2nd Grade
Overview: This lesson plan is adapted for students in the first and second grade. Students will be introduced to the mathematic subjects of comparing and ordering whole numbers, representing two digit numbers and using inverse operations that apply to addition and subtraction problems. It would be helpful to know the students previous math background.
Objectives: Students will be able to recognize different terms in measurement, solve inverse operations using addition and subtraction and be able to compare and order whole numbers using search engines such as Google and additional educational software like Kidspiration and Microsoft Word with no errors.
Materials Needed: The materials needed are computers with internet connection, Kidspiration Educational Software and Microsoft Word.
Activities and Procedures: Students will be participating in daily assignments that correlate to the lesson that is learned in class. Students will complete a quiz, 3 worksheets, and will use the educational software program, Kidspiration and Microsoft Word to further their knowledge about the material learned. They will also use GOOGLE as a search engine to correlate “real-life” situations to what they learn in lecture.
Assessment: The students will be assessed through teacher observation, written assignments, activity worksheets, and a quiz. As a teacher, I would have a clear understanding of how I want to communicate this new information to my students to ensure full understanding. I am clear with my directions so that students are able to do these assignments on their own but have also let them know that I am here if they need any additional assistance.
Standards:
MA.1.A.1.2- Identify, describe, and apply addition and subtraction as inverse operations
MA.1.A.2.1- Compare and order whole numbers at least to 100
MA.1.A.2.2- Represent two digit numbers in terms of tens and ones
MA.1.G.5.2- Compare and order objects according to descriptions of length, weight and capacity
MA.2.A.1.3- Compare and order multi-digit numbers through the thousands
